Huell Howser, a great man of television, died late Sunday in Palm Springs, to which he retired quietly late last year — or as quietly as an interested public would let him, the announcement that he would make no more programs being news throughout theOH, HE was corny, sure, with his aw-shucks demeanor, broad Tennessee accent and obvious questions. Nobody uttered more stupefied "wows" or found the mundane as "amaaaazing" as Huell Howser. Even babies are more cynical. But let's not be cynicalAs was often the case, television personality Huell Howser captured the Coachella scene perfectly.
