South Africa's Nelson Mandela, 94, remains in the hospital for a 7th day

JOHANNESBURG — Nelson Mandela's health is improving but the 94-year-old beloved anti-apartheid hero remains in serious condition, South Africa's president said Thursday. Jacob Zuma paid a visit to Mandela in a Pretoria hospital, where the former 

South Africa's government is pleased that ex-President Nelson Mandela is responding well to treatment in hospital, it said in a statement. The cabinet, which met on Wednesday, wished a speedy recovery to Mr Mandela, regarded as the father of the nation.

There is "no change" in the condition of Nelson Mandela, but he is responding well to hospital treatment, the South African presidency has said. Mr Mandela, who turns 95 next month, is being cared for in a Pretoria hospital for a recurrent lung infection.
